This New Doctor Who spin off is to be a brand new series for CBBC and has been created by Russell T Davies.
The series is to be set in present day West London and will star Elizabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith.
She is to be joined by Yasmin Paige who will play Sarahs 13 year old neighbour. It is to start with a 60 minute special in 2007 and a full series will follow later in the year.
In the special, Sarah and Maria form an unlikely alliance to fight evil alien forces at work in Britain, and against the scheming Ms Wormwood, played by Samantha Bond.
"I left Sarah Jane but she never left me," said Elisabeth. "I can't wait to return to Cardiff (where filming is based) to find out what's going to happen to her next."

Filming is to begin next month and is written by Russell T Davies and Gareth Roberts. The director is to be colin Teague and will be produced by Susie Liggat. The new series will go into production in spring 2007.
